Jose Ignacio Gabilondo Pujol

He was born in San Sebastián in 1942. He graduated in Journalism from the University of Navarra.
He started his career in the radio world at 21 years old. At the age of 26 he was appointed director of the COPE of San Sebastián and the following year he became SER director of the station in the same city.
In 1971 he assumed the direction of Radio Sevilla.
In 1978, he arrived in Madrid and took over the Direction of Hora 25 and the coordination of the SER Information Services, whose direction became one year later.
In 1981 he left SER and went to RTVE as Director of the Informative Services of Spanish Television. It was during this period that he attempted the 23-F coup d'état, an exceptional situation that led to his debut as host of the evening newscast.
He left his position on Radio 16 in 1983 to return to Cadena Ser, where he would subsequently be the director and presenter of the radio programs Aqui la Ser, Matinal Ser, Pido la palabra and Onda Media
On September 22, 1986, he took what he considers the program of his life: Today, with which he broke records and became the most listened to program in radio history with more than 3,300,000 daily listeners.
Subsequently, he has combined his work at SER with numerous television programs on various networks: En Familia (TVE), Iñaki, Thursdays (Forta), Gente de Primera (TVE) and Informativos de Tele 5. In 2005 he joined the Cuatro project, and later on CNN +, where he directed the nightly news program "HOY".
He has been recognized with the most important journalism awards: Ortega y Gasset, Cerecedo, Press Association, UNESCO Gandhi Medal.
Miguel Delibes and seven ONDAS awards among others.
Iñaki Gabilondo has interviewed all the presidents of the government; political leaders of all parties; international personalities, writers, researchers, actors, film directors, singers and all the protagonists of today.
He is an honorary doctor by the Universities of Valencia, Lleida, Burgos, Rey Juan Carlos I of Madrid and Internacional Menéndez Pelayo.
Currently, in addition to collaborating every morning with his comment on the Cadena SER program “Hoy por Hoy”, developing his video blog “La Firma de Iñaki Gabilondo” for El País and Cadena SER, he presents on Channel # 0 Movistar + "When it is no longer" a space for interviews about the world in 25 years with international personalities of science, technology and knowledge.
